SFT/PSRP is considered one of the TOP 100 AFT Locals in the nation because of size and growth.

SFT/PSRP has won two "PRIDE OF THE UNION" awards for growth and organization.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The SFT/PSRP membership has been at work in Chatham County since 1978. Here are a few of the things we have accomplished

Successfully petitioned the School board to pay teachers twice a month
Successfully lobbied School Board for raises for all classified employees amounting to 4.5% plus a step raise
When food service workers and custodians were asked to wear uniforms at their expense, we convinced the BOE to purchase the uniforms
When a member identified a serious mold problem in an elementary school, we initiated an investigation by the Department of Environmental Health
We have gained credibility with principals and administrators in the district, resulting in a more productive grievance procedure and a more successful transfer process
Established monthly meetings with the superintendent
Provided professional development through the AFT "Educational Research & Dissemination Program" (ER&D)
Provided assistance to overturn wrongly assigned PDP's
Provided legal representation for members whose rights had been violated
Provided representation of members at meetings with site administrators
Secured transfers
Participated in New Teachers Orientation
Participated in New Teachers Institute
Provided membership appreciation tee-shirts
Trained Building Representatives and Area Coordinators
Provided study classes for paraprofessionals state license test (Praxis)
Hosted seasonal social events

Membership dues are paid through payroll deduction

Teachers..................$40.80 per pay period

PSRP (Classified).........$11.00 per pay period
